چکیده

Introduction: Bats have been reported as hosts of the Trypanosoma cruzi protozoan, etiologic agent American trypanosomiasis, an endemic zoonotic disease in México. Objective: To describe T. infection bats from states Campeche and Yucatán, México.Materials methods: Captures were made March to November, 2017, at three sites Yucatán one Campeche. Up four mist nets on two consecutive nights used for capture. The bats’ species identified euthanasia was performed collect kidney heart samples total DNA extraction. detected by conventional PCR with amplification a fragment belonging nuclear. Results: Eighty-six five families (Vespertilionidae, Noctilionidae, Mormoopidae, Phyllostomidae, Molossidae) 13 (Rhogeessa aeneus, Noctilio leporinus, Pteronotus davyi, P. parnellii, Artibeus jamaicensis, A. lituratus, phaeotis, Glossophaga soricina, Carollia sowelli, Chiroderma villosum, Uroderma bilobatum, Sturnira parvidens, Molossus rufus) captured. Infection frequency 30,2% (26/86) only renal tissue. infected G. S. C. R. aeneus. Conclusions: Our results confirmed participation several bat transmission cycle region. Further studies are necessary establish importance these animals cruzi.

The opossum Didelphis virginiana as a synanthropic reservoir of Trypanosoma cruzi in Dzidzilché, Yucatán, México.

In México, the role of mammals in the transmission cycle of Trypanosoma cruzi is poorly known. In the State of Yucatán, an endemic area of Chagas disease, both Didelphis virginiana and D. marsupialis occur sympatrically. However, until now, only the former species had been found infected with T. cruzi. To evaluate the role of D. virginiana in a peridomestic transmission, nine periods of capture...

Immunotherapy of Trypanosoma cruzi infection with DNA vaccines in mice.

The mechanisms involved in the pathology of chronic chagasic cardiomyopathy are still debated, and the controversy has interfered with the development of new treatments and vaccines. Because of the potential of DNA vaccines for immunotherapy of chronic and infectious diseases, we tested if DNA vaccines could control an ongoing Trypanosoma cruzi infection. BALB/c mice were infected with a lethal...

Trypanosoma cruzi Infection and Host Lipid Metabolism

Trypanosoma cruzi is the causative agent of Chagas disease. Approximately 8 million people are thought to be affected worldwide. Several players in host lipid metabolism have been implicated in T. cruzi-host interactions in recent research, including macrophages, adipocytes, low density lipoprotein (LDL), low density lipoprotein receptor (LDLR), and high density lipoprotein (HDL). All of these ...

First case of natural infection in pigs. Review of Trypanosoma cruzi reservoirs in Mexico.

An epidemiological research project was performed in the State of Morelos including collection of samples for blood smears and culture, serological tests, and xenodiagnoses from a total of 76 domestic and peridomestic mammals. Two strains of Trypanosoma cruzi were isolated by haemocultures; one from a pig (Sus scrofa), the first case of natural infection reported in Mexico, and the other from a...

Cytokines in innate and acquired immunity to Trypanosoma cruzi infection.

Resistance to Trypanosoma cruzi infections is critically dependent on cytokine-mediated activation of cell-mediated immune effector mechanisms. This review focuses on the role of IL-10, TNF-alpha, IFN-gamma and IL-12 in controlling T. cruzi replication by the innate and specific immune systems of the vertebrate host. A study performed on mice with disrupted recombinase-activating genes (RAG/KO)...
